How To Keep It Organized

So you've gotten your space organized. Great! You did your research, followed all the steps and rainbowed everything. Now you may be wondering, how do I keep it this organized all the time?

Organizing isn't just about making things pretty. You are also creating systems that will help your future self live a more efficient life. Keep this in mind when you are doing an overhaul of a space. For example, if you know you don't like folding laundry, don't put all of your clothes in drawers. Create a system around what works best for you, not what looks best to you.

If you have shoes piling up at your front door, create a landing space for them near the front door and not hidden in the closet a few feet away (give it up, the shoes are never going to make it all the way to the closet). Creating practical systems for your everyday life will make your space easier and quicker to get back in place.

Labels are another tactic to keep things organized. Labels insure everyone knows what belongs in that space. When in doubt, label it. There are so many different types of labels to choose from it's almost impossible to not find ones that match your aesthetic. Labels can really add a beautiful touch to a space when done correctly as well.

Designated spaces are also important to have in your home. Instead of placing a stack of mail on the kitchen table, you'll be inclined to place it in the "mail box" set up in the corner of the countertop. Instead of throwing your bath towel in your room or in a pile of laundry, make a spot for hanging towels or get a divided laundry basket with a space just for towels. It is easier to keep things where they belong when they have a designated spot labeled for everyone to see and understand.

Quick, daily tidy ups will keep your house fresh and organized everyday. Because you already have great systems in place, clean ups will be quick and easy. If you have kids, they'll even be able to get involved since things will be labeled and easy to find. It's helpful for everyone when things have a place. So how do we keep it organized? Systems, labels, designated spots. Good luck and stay organized!
